How Grow Red Cherry Tomatoes In A Pot

Ripe Red Cherry tomatoes make a delicious appetizer.

Equipment you will need:

  • A large pot
  • Good quality potting soil
  • Plastic lid about 3 inches in diameter
  • Soil amendment, such as Cottonseed Meal, a 6.2-2.5-1.5 mix
  • Small Cherry Tomato plant, such as a Sweet 100 variety
  • 'U' Hoop bamboo stakes

Step 1:
Place the plastic lid over the drain hole of the pot after trimming the lip. This will slow the water flow, increasing the moisture level in the pot, but still allows for adequate drainage.

Step 2:
Fill the pot with a good quality potting soil up to within 4 to 5 inches of the top.

Step 3:
Apply a good portion of the soil amendment, such as Cottonseed Meal.

Step 4:
Remove the lower leaves from the plant, and plant in the pot, up to the upper leaves. Compacting the soil around the plant.

Step 5:
Apply another portion of the Cottonseed Meal to the topsoil.

Step 6:
Water well.

Step 7:
Center the Bamboo hoops over the plant and push them well in firm and solid supports
